I live in sunny Queensland, Australia. I was a primary school teacher for many years and survived plenty of real adventures in my Year Five classroom - enough for lots of books about Miss Strickland and her class at Wattle Creek Primary School, I think.

When I was teaching I loved messy art days, crazy science experiments and dressing up for the annual book Week parade. These days I write, paint and work with exotic insect specimens from around the world. A beach holiday is still my favourite way to relax. In some strange way, Miss Strickland is a little bit like me.

I have always loved writing funny stories for kids. There’s a snippet of truth in most of them - but I’ll let you decide which parts those are.
